A Little About John D Rockefeller, Jr:
Born to John D Rockefeller Sr., the founder of an industrial empire, Standard Oil.

Until the age of 10 Rockefeller was home schooled. After graduating high school he enrolled at Brown University where he graduated in 1897.

After graduating he worked for Standard Oil in New York City, a business run by his father. He stayed for about 10 years then decided to leave the business world and seek philanthropic interests.

Although his father was a billionaire, wealth did not appeal to him.

Rockefeller  was blamed for the Ludlow Massacre which occurred on April 20, 1914 where 17 strikers at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company were were shot dead by militia men.

Rockefeller and his father created many great institutions such as the Rockefeller Institute, the General Education Board, and Rockefeller Foundation, and the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research.

In the 1930’s he funded construction for the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.  During a time of high unemployment, this project created 75, 000 jobs.

He helped establish the United Service Organization and raised more than $300 million to help those serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Donated extensively to various conservation projects such as the Acadia National Park in Maine and Yosemite National Park in California.

John D Rockefeller, Jr. died of arteriosclerosis at the age of 86.
